Heron Pose

Sanskrit Name: Krauncasana

Heron Pose

Challenge Level: Very Hard

Heron pose is a seated stretch pose that works the quadriceps, hamstrings and calves. Heron pose is a forward fold of sorts, but unlike other forward fold poses, it involves bringing the leg toward the face. To enter the pose, the practitioner sits in staff pose (dandasana) with both legs stretched forward and the spine erect. The right leg is folded to bring the heel by the side of the right hip as in hero pose (virasana). Supporting the left foot with the hands, the leg is lifted off the floor toward the torso and straightened as much as possible. This is then repeated on the opposite side.

Seated Yoga Poses

Seated positions calm the mind and encourage concentration. These are the best postures for practicing breathing techniques, meditation and stillness. When combined with twists or stretches, these poses release muscular knots, improving the flow of energy in the body.

Forward Bend Yoga Poses

Forward bends, also called forward folds, are yoga postures where you hinge forward at your hips. There are many forward folds, both standing and seated, that are commonly practiced in various forms across all styles of yoga. While backbends open the frontside of your body, forward bends open the backside and generally create length throughout. Physically, this improves posture and helps you stand taller.
